Revolutionizing Time: The Kibardin Clock

Where Innovation Meets Aesthetics: A Modern Take on Timekeeping

Discover the Kibardin Clock, a modern interpretation of the traditional digital clock, designed by Vadim Kibardin. This unique timepiece, a blend of innovation and design, offers a new perspective on timekeeping, transforming a simple object into a work of art.

The Kibardin Clock, a digital LED clock, is a testament to the evolving world of design and technology. The inspiration behind this unique timepiece lies in the complexity of the material world, which is becoming more streamlined on the outside while growing more complex on the inside. As objects lose their massive material bodies, they transform into contours that imaginatively reflect their purpose. This clock is a perfect example of this transformation, with its electronics placed inside the product housing in a way that turns it into a logically and conceptually sound frame.

More than just a timepiece, a Kibardin clock on a desk or wall is a true expression of personal taste and a professional tool. The clock is encased in a matte black and white housing from ABS plastic with matte lightgrey and darkgrey light dispersing screens. The design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and reliable, reflecting a wide range of styles and preferences.

The clock is a modern 3D interpretation of the traditional digital clock, with nothing superfluous or redundant. The Kibardin clock is a clock with an alarm and 24 or 12 hour time display modes. During dark hours, the light-sensitive sensor and new intelligent light controller change the brightness of the digits to a less intense white, demonstrating the clock's innovative design.

The Kibardin clock started off in 2009 as an ambitious-concept clock using individual OLED components, and a production-ready model in a white case was released to the public in 2011. The final Kibardin clock has drawn a lot of attention from fellow designers and the general public. Now, the new 2018 clock version offers an improved clock with an intelligent light controller and the possibility to select between 12 and 24 hour modes.

The design process of the Kibardin clock involved a comprehensive understanding of users' needs, wants, and desires. The design team focused on probing current trends to determine which technologies will define the highest quality of life. The main challenge was working with light sensitivity, using the lumen method to determine the moment the brightness of the digits changes to a less intense white.

The Kibardin Clock has been awarded the Silver A' Digital and Electronic Device Design Award in 2018, a testament to its outstanding design and innovative features. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The Kibardin Clock, with its blend of aesthetics and functionality, truly embodies these qualities.
